April Virtual Book Club

Karen Memory by Elizabeth Bear

April 21st, 4:30 pm Pacific (Seattle/Tucson)

Our monthly virtual book club returns this Sunday, April 21st, at 4:30 PM Pacific (Seattle/Tucson)/7:30 PM Eastern (Montreal). After taking March off, I am thrilled to return for a delightful conversation about one of my favourite steampunk books, Karen Memory* by Elizabeth Bear. What makes this delectable layer cake of a book a true delight is the nuanced, woman lead story at the the center of the book. With a marvelous cast of characters, a poignant queer love story, and truly ingenious steampunk gadgets, Karen Memory is a peak example of what women and femmes can achieve in Steampunk stories.

We also welcome the talented author, Elizabeth Bear, as our guest, so do bring questions about the book and for the author. Usually, I am able to call on everyone at least once but often twice so we all get a chance to engage our author guest directly.

Thank you to dear Bill Bodden for all of his hard work behind the scenes, helping to keep book club organized!

To join us for our lively book chat, visit the Facebook event page where I shall post the zoom link on Sunday or follow along during the live stream on Facebook. Patreon CommuniTea members get the link and details early. A happy reminder that you do not have to finish the book to attend book club but there may be spoilers.

*I receive a small commission for any books purchased through the bookshop.org link. I am proud to be a bookshop.org affiliate because they support local, independent bookstores across the United States.
