Flash Fiction Contest

My dear friends!

Enter your flash fiction for glory, honour, prizes, and the Great Pumpkin!

In association with the Covidween celebrations, Madame Askew’s Temporal Entourage is pleased to offer a flash fiction contest, open to entrants ages 18 and up who have not been previously published. There is no fee to enter the contest, and the contest is limited to the first 24 entrants who register. The working period of the contest runs from Noon to Midnight CDT on October 17. Entries will be expected to conform to the provided theme and to the 500-word limit, and will include the secret ingredient – a word, phrase, character, or item that must be incorporated for the story to be considered. The secret ingredient will be announced immediately prior to the Noon start time of the working period.

Judging will take place the week of October 18, with the winner announced on October 24. First-place entrant agrees to allow their entry to be reprinted, in whole or in part, in the Hallow’s Herald, the digital newspaper of the Covidween celebrations published during the last week of October. Copyright for all entries is retained by the individual authors. Judges’ decisions are final.

Prizes: The number of prizes awarded depends on the number of entries, with a single first prize award being the minimum. In the event of a full slate of 24 participants, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will also be awarded. Prizes are as follows:
1st place: First choice of three books from the prize pool
2nd place: Second choice of two books from the prize pool
3rd place: Third choice of one book from the prize pool.

As there are no fees for this contest, no cash prizes are offered, though the winners may feel free to bask in the honour and glory of their accomplishment!
